Peperomia Red Luna adds a bold style statement with its furrowed heart shaped leaves of deep purple and burgundy. As with all radiator plants Red Luna adapts well to growing in low or fluorescent light, making it perfect for offices. A well behaved desk buddy to provide the only office drama you will need.
Please note: the stems and leaves on this plant are very fragile and despite our best efforts some may be lost during transit.
Peperomia caperata Red Luna – Radiator Plant Care & Info Guide
Horty Hints
Off to the chop shop! Caperata Red Luna can sometimes become a bit straggly. A quick trim of the lower outer leaves will encourage a fuller, bushier growth.
Brighter isn’t always better! Avoid direct light and think about mimicking a dappled rainforest floor to maintain Red Luna’s striking leaf colour.
How much is too much? This semi-succulent is sensitive to overwatering. Too wet and it will rot, too dry and it will die. When the soil has nearly dried out, give it a little drink.
Light
Peperomia are fine in moderate light conditions and will tolerate shade. Avoid direct sunlight. Ideal for the office or a basement flat as they do well under fluorescent lights.
Watering
Water when the soil has almost dried out. Do not overwater. Use soft water if possible and water from below. Water is stored in the leaves making these plants drought resistant.
Temperature
Peperomia caperata Red Luna prefers average to warm temperatures from 18-24°C but can cope with as low as 10°C at a push. Avoid cold draughts.
Humidity
Peperomia enjoy raised humidity levels but they do just fine in normal household conditions. Consider misting occasionally.
Feed
Apply a half-strength balanced fertiliser once or twice during the growing season.
Height & Growth Rate
The caperata Red Luna is a slow-growing plant which typically reaches an ultimate height and spread of around 50cm.
Toxicity
This Peperomia is considered non-toxic and is therefore safe to keep around children and pets.
Origin
Peperomia caperata Red Luna originates from the Brazilian rainforests.
